Terms of Service

Effective date: August 22, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and FirstTab LLC, an Ohio limited liability company ("FirstTab," "we," "us"). They cover your use of firsttab.com and the FirstTab app. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use FirstTab.

1. What FirstTab is

FirstTab is a personal start page. You save links, folders, notes, and checklists, and they follow you between computers. You can share folders and notes with other people.

FirstTab is currently free. If we ever introduce a paid plan, we'll give existing accounts notice before anything changes for them.

2. Your account

You need an account, and you need to be at least 13 years old to have one. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission.

Give us an email address you actually control — it's how we reset your password and how share invitations reach you. Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done by someone you gave access to. Tell us at firsttabllc@gmail.com if you think someone else is in your account.

One account per person. Don't create an account on someone else's behalf without their say-so.

3. Your content stays yours

Everything you put into FirstTab — your links, folders, notes, checklists, titles, and arrangements — is yours. We don't claim ownership of it and we won't use it to train machine-learning models.

You give us a narrow, practical license: permission to store, copy, transmit, and display your content solely to operate FirstTab for you and for the people you've shared it with. It lasts as long as you keep the content in FirstTab. Delete it, and the license ends with it. That license exists because storing a file is technically copying it — it isn't a claim on your work.

You're responsible for what you store. Don't put things in FirstTab you don't have the right to store or share.

4. Sharing and collaboration

When you invite someone to a folder or note:

You choose their role. Viewers can see it. Editors can see and change it.
You're responsible for who you invite and for what you expose to them.
Removing someone's access stops them from seeing future changes. It doesn't unsee what they already saw, and it doesn't retrieve anything they copied.
Content that a collaborator added to your shared folder was created by them, and their rights in it are theirs.

If someone shares something with you, use it for what it was shared for. Don't redistribute it without permission.

5. What you can't do

Don't use FirstTab to:

Break the law, or help anyone else break it.
Store or share material that infringes someone's copyright, trademark, or other rights.
Store or share content that's illegal, that sexually exploits children, or that harasses, threatens, or defames someone.
Send unsolicited invitations, spam, or anything deceptive — including using share invitations to reach people who don't want to hear from you.
Distribute malware, or link to it.
Try to get into other people's accounts or data, probe our security, or work around our access controls. (Reporting a vulnerability you found is welcome and is not this.)
Reverse engineer or decompile the service, scrape or automate it in a way that burdens it, or resell access to it.
Impersonate someone else, or misrepresent who you are.

We can suspend or close an account that does these things. For something clearly illegal or actively harmful, we may do it immediately and without warning.

6. Availability

We try to keep FirstTab running and we'll try to give notice before planned downtime. But FirstTab is operated by one person, and it will sometimes be unavailable, slow, or broken. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

Keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose. FirstTab has an export button in the profile panel and it costs you thirty seconds. We are not your only backup and you shouldn't treat us as one.

7. Our intellectual property

The FirstTab name, logo, design, and code are ours and are protected by intellectual property law. These terms don't give you the right to copy, distribute, or make derivative works from them.

FirstTab™ is a trademark of FirstTab LLC, with an application pending before the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Class 042.

8. Third-party services and links

FirstTab relies on outside providers — Supabase for database and authentication, Vercel for hosting, Resend for email. Your use of the service is subject to their terms as well, and their availability affects ours. We're not responsible for their practices.

FirstTab stores links to other websites. We don't control those sites, we don't endorse them, and we're not responsible for what's on them or what they do with your visit. Site icons shown next to your links are fetched from a third-party service — see the Privacy Policy for what that means.

9. Ending things

You can stop using FirstTab whenever you like. Email firsttabllc@gmail.com from your account address to delete your account. Export your data first — after deletion we can't get it back for you.

We can suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we're required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. Unless the situation is urgent or unlawful, we'll try to give you reasonable notice and a chance to export.

Sections 3, 7, 10, 11, 12, and 13 survive the end of this agreement.

10. No warranty

FirstTab is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We don't warrant that FirstTab will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that data will never be lost. Some states don't allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this may not apply to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, FirstTab LLC and anyone working with it won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising from your use of FirstTab — even if we were told such damages were possible.

Our total liability for any claim relating to FirstTab is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). FirstTab is free, so for most people that figure is $100.

Some states don't allow these limits, so parts of this may not apply to you.

12. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify FirstTab LLC against claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs arising from your content, your use of FirstTab, or your violation of these terms or of someone else's rights.

13. Copyright complaints

If you believe something on FirstTab infringes your copyright, email firsttabllc@gmail.com with: a description of the work, where the infringing material is, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized, a statement that your notice is accurate and that you're authorized to act, and your signature (electronic is fine).

We remove infringing material when properly notified and may close the accounts of repeat infringers.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising under them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ohio.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll email you before they take effect. Continuing to use FirstTab after that means you accept the new terms. If you don't, close your account.

16. Odds and ends

Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about FirstTab.
Severability. If a court finds part of this unenforceable, the rest stands.
No waiver. If we don't enforce something right away, we haven't given up the right to.
Assignment. You can't transfer your rights here. We can, in a merger or sale of the business.
